"At the other extreme is an idea by which a state in the US is toying with the idea of reducing road tax losses resulting from fuel efficient vehicles - they have presently a per unit fuel surcharge towards road tax. This will be implemented by installing a GPS based system in every vehicle, monitoring the mileage driven on state roads and a proportionate tax thereon. A possible solution only because the entire Road GIS would be in place. The rift between the 'haves' and 'have nots at least on date is wide"
